If you’ve been beating your meat to various amount of adult sites then you might want to hold off on the hobby for the time being.
The adult website x-Hamster has gotten hacked and the hackers could reveal the email addresses and password of 380,000 users.
The internet allows people to surf the interwebz to learn about anything and everything.
Students can use it to study for their classes, but once it’s break time then it’s time to hit up some more “entertaining” web pages.
Unfortunately, if you signed up for one 18+ site, x-Hamster, then your information might be at risk.
The website is a free site but users can sign up for an account to personalize their collection, comment on videos, and upload their own content.
According to the adult entertainment website, there are 12 million users with an account.
Fortunately, only a small fraction of users are in hot water. And according to Motherboard, the site’s database includes email addresses belonging to people in the U.S Army and also various countries’ government bodies.
In an email to Motherboard, x-Hamster stated that data is secured.
“The passwords of all x-Hamster users are properly encrypted, so it is almost impossible to hack them. Thus, all the passwords are safe and the users data secured,” read the email. According to Forbes, what’s considered “properly encrypted” is questionable since Motherboard claims that x-Hamster could be using an outdated algorithm.
In order to protect yourself from hackers, you’re going to want to create a difficult and different password for all of your social media accounts.
And if you actually signed up for an x-Hamster account, then you’re going to want to change your password as soon as possible.
